The Results are in! Over the weekend, London celebrated Pride with thousands of people coming together to support gender and LGBTQ equality. At Crosstown we wanted to go one step further this year and partnered with the good people over at Albert Kennedy Trust (AKT) – the UK’s LGBTQ youth homeless charity.

Our handcrafted limited edition Pride dough bites (see picture above) were available from Friday – Sunday and went down a treat! For every dough bite sold 50% of sales went straight to Albert Kennedy Trust, with enough money raise for a vulnerable LGBTQ person to stay at Purple Door for six months and help them get back on their feet!

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this huge success, particularly all you lovely folk who enjoyed one (or two… or three) of our yummy Pride dough bites over the weekend. We really could not have done this without you.

Purple Door is AKT’s emergency safe house for young LGBTQ people. This was the first accommodation of its kind to focus LGBTQ young people aged 16-25 and has been running for six years.  In London the property is a six-bedroom house with two bathrooms and communal spaces for cooking and lounging.  Residents stay for a varying amount of time until a longer-term solution can be found.  An average stay is 3 – 6 months but is ultimately timed to the individual needs.  While in Purple Door, young people work on housing, employment and education programmes with AKT caseworkers and network of mentors and volunteer specialists.
